WAPCO, UBA & 23 others push ASI to reverse loss, Posts 0.33% gain
The Equity Market closed higher today gaining 0.33%, reversing yesterday’s negative sentiment. The upturn was aided by the sterling performance of WAPCO and 24 others. Market breadth closed positive, recording 25 gainers against 15 losers.
In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was up by 105.77 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.33%, closing at 32,482.89 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization was up by N38.67 billion, representing an increase of 0.33%, closing at N11.89 trillion.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; WAPCO (+9.90%), DANGSUGAR (+4.63%), FLOURMILL (+4.15%), UBA (+4.00%), WEMABANK (+3.45%), ETI (+2.78%), GUINNESS (+2.33%), FO (+2.27%), OANDO (+0.96%), ACCESS (+0.63%) and FIDELITYBK (+0.61%).
FOREIGN EXCHANGE
The Naira at the inter-bank rate closed unchanged at N306.30 against yesterday’s closing price.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.12, traded high at N364.50 and eventually closed at N363.27, representing a 0.08% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $112.66 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 4.75%, representing a 1.00% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 4.17% representing a 0.58% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
