Value appreciation in MTNN, 24 others led Nigerian stocks to a 0.71% gain
The Nigerian bourse today (Wednesday), closed higher with a modest gain of 0.71%, extending the previous positive sentiment to two consecutive trading day, following value appreciation in bellwether stocks like in MTNN, ZENITHBANK, and 23 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 25 gainers as against 8 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 148.07 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.71% to close at 21,073.26 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N77.17 billion, representing an increase of 0.71% to close at N10.98 trillion.
ETI & IKEJAHOTEL emerged as the top gainers while SKYAVN & UNIONDAC emerged as the top losers.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; ETI (+10.00%), WAPCO (+9.77%), DANGSUGAR (+9.55%), UBA (+3.67%), FLOURMILL (+2.38%), ZENITHBANK (+2.32%), GUARANTY (+1.67%), MTNN (+0.21%) and NESTLE (+0.01%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N385.47, traded high at N401.45 and eventually closed at N384.83, unchanged against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $76.18 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 3.17%, representing a 0.67% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 2.83%, representing 0.67% depreciation against yesterday’s position.
