Value appreciation in ACCESS, ZENITHBANK, 17 others push NSE-ASI higher, gains 0.66%

Transactions on the Nigerian equities market today (Wednesday) closed higher by 0.66%, halting downtrend of two consecutive trading sessions, following value appreciation on ACCESS, ZENITHBANK, WAPCO and 16 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 19 gainers  as against 4 losers.

 

NSE Trading Floor

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 150.38 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.66% to close at 22,780.30 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N78.37 billion, representing a growth of 0.66% to close at N11.87 trillion.

NEM emerged as the top gainers while SKYAVN emerged as the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; NEM (+10.00%), WAPCO (+9.66%), ZENITHBANK (+5.36%), UBA (+2.63%), ACCESS (+2.46%), GUARANTY (+1.36%) and BUACEMENT (+0.87%).

The Naira at the official window on Wednesday closed unchanged at 361.00/$1, against yesterday’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N385.07, traded high at N385.00 and eventually closed at N383.00, representing a 0.52% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $30.51 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 2.10%, representing a 0.53% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 1.80%, representing a 0.20% depreciation against yesterday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET

The NASD OTC market on Wednesday closed lower as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 700.73, representing a 0.18% depreciation against previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization closed higher at N514.74 billion,  representing a 0.18% dip against previous day’s position. However, the aggregate volume decreased by 82.77% while the aggregated value increased by 101.32%, as investors traded a total of 23,922 volumes of shares, valued at N3.79 million in 4 deal.
