Stocks in uptrend for the second successive day as index rises by 0.75%
The Nigerian stock market today (Wednesday) closed on a positive note, gaining 0.75%, extending the previous positive momentum to two consecutive trading days, following bargain hunting pressure on some bellwether stocks like ACCESS, ZENITHBANK, FBNH and 22 other. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a positively, recording 25 losers as against 8 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 179.99 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.57% to close at 24,278.07 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N94.21 billion, representing an increase of 0.75% to close at N12.66 trillion.
WAPCO emerged as the top gainers while BERGER emerged as the top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; WAPCO (+10.00%) GUARANTY (+6.89%), JAPAULOIL (+4.55%), FBNH (+3.92%), UBA (+3.23%), ACCESS (+3.23%), ZENITHBANK (+1.83%) and OKOMUOIL (+1.15%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N387.32, traded high at N391.35, and eventually closed at N386.75, representing a 0.06% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $103.37 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 21.00%, representing a 0.50% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 20.00%, representing a 0.25% appreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market today (Wednesday) closed on a negative note, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 708.20, representing a 0.50% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N2.60 billion closed at N520.22 billion, representing a 0.50% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. However, the aggregate volume increased by 260.80% while aggregated value contracted by 0.37% respectively, as investors traded a total of 315.967 shares, worth N7.41 million in 10 deal.
