Stock market maintain bearish trend as market capitalization eased further by N97.93 billion
The Nigerian Equity Market ends today trading session on a bearish note, shedding 0.73% to extend decline to Seven (7) consecutive sessions. Consequently, market breadth closed negative, recording 10 gainers and 15 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) shed 222.36 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.73% to close at 30,099.83 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization lost N97.93 billion, representing a dip of 0.73% to close at N13.26 trillion.
UNILEVER emerged the top gainer while SOVRENINS emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DANGSUGAR (-4.35%), MOBIL (-3.82%), WEMABANK (-3.28%), OANDO (-2.60%), DANGCEM (-2.12%), NB (-1.72%), UBA (-1.59%), TRANSCORP (-0.88%), MTNN (-0.37%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.49%)

The Naira exchange rate at the official window remain unchanged to closed at N307.00/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.16, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.63 to remain unchanged against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $114.83 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 9.50%, representing a 3.21% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 8.71%, representing a 3.57% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market closed positively after today’s trading sessions, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew by 1.01 point to close at 759.97 points against yesterday’s index. The Market Capitalization gained N5.45 billion closing at N545.97 billion. Similarly, Market activities measured by aggregate volume and value grew by 2,395.64% and 4,747.01% respectively. Investors traded a total of 1.83 million units of shares valued at N300.68 million in 18 deals.
