Stock Market Extends Bullish Run, As Investors Gain N52 Billion

Trading activities resumed on the Nigeria Equity Market today (Friday) after the short Sallah break, closed on a positive trajectory, stretching the gaining streaks to three consecutive trading sessions, to end the week in the green, as the NGX-ASI and the market capitalization grew by 0.25%. The positive performance was triggered by investors’ sustained buy interests in all the major sectors, except the oil & gas sector that remained unchanged. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 19 gainers against 14 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 98.93 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.25% to close at 39,481.89 points. While the overall Market Capitalization value gained N51.59billion, representing an increase of 0.25% to close at N20.58 trillion.

ETERNA emerged as top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of 10.00%, while ACADEMY emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -10.00%.

Today’s market gain was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; ETERNA(+10.00%) REGALINS(+9.68%), NEM(+9.47%), CHIPLC(8.89%), ROYALEX(+8.57%), UCAP(+8.51%), FIDELITYBANK(3.93%), TOTAL(+2.11%), STANBIC(+2.00%), DANGSUGAR(1.99%), ZENITHBANK(+1.94%), GUARANTY(+1.52%), MANSARD(+1.11%), ACCESS(+0.60%), and UACN(+0.69%).

The Naira at the official rate remains unchanged to close at N379.00/$1 as at Friday’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N410.40 traded high at N426.67, and low at N394.00, and eventually closed at N411.67,  representing a 0.10% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing position. Also, a total of $203.42million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

The overnight (O/N) rate closed at 28.88%, representing a 13.38% appreciation as against Friday’s position. while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 26.88%, representing a 11.88% appreciation as against Monday’s position.
