Sell-off in the Banking Sector Sends Local Bourse Southward, as NGX-ASI Declines by 0.084%

The Nigerian equity market closed trading activities for today (Tuesday) on a negative note, extending the bearish sentiment to two consecutive trading sessions, as NGX-ASI declined by 0.084%. The negative performance was driven by market watchers sell-off sentiment in the Banking sector, as investors’ wealth also dropped by N17 billion. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 16 gainers as against 13 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 32.57 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.084%, to close at 38,873.85 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N17 billion, representing a drop of 0.084% to close at N20.25 trillion.

MRS emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of 9.75% while NEIMETH emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -7.89%.
