Price appreciation on major bellwether push equity market to close positive

The Nigeria Stock Market rose by a marginal gain of 0.09%, extending its positive trend to three consecutive trading sessions. The market breadth closed positive, recording 21 gainers and 12 losers.

NSE Trading Floor

The All Share Index (ASI) gained 28.52 absolute points to represent a growth of 0.09%, to close at 30,773.57 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N10.96 billion representing a growth of 0.10%, to close at N11.48 trillion.

BETAGLAS emerged the top gainer while AGLEVENT emerged  as the top loser.

The uptrend was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; UCAP (+3.14%), OANDO (+3.09%), WEMABANK (+2.99%), STANBIC (+1.96%), ACCESS (+1.61%), FBNH (+1.35%), DANGFLOUR (+0.83%),  GUARANTY (+0.74%) FIDELITYBK (+0.42%) and NB (+0.13%).

However, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc listed additional 1,130,000,000 ordinary share of 50 kobo at 65 kobo per share, the total issued and fully paid up shares of Consolidated Hallmark has now increased from 7,000,000,000 to 8,130,000,000 ordinary shares of 50 kobo each.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate  closed at N306.70 representing a 0.02% appreciation against Monday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.38, traded high at N364.70 and eventually closed at N362.19, representing a 0.11% appreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $225.60 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 20.92%, representing a 3.15% appreciation against Monday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 19.50% representing a 2.67%  appreciation against Monday’s closing position.
