Positive sentiment persists as SEC urges investors to capital market
The Nigerian equity market on Wednesday extends previous days rally to eight consecutive trading days by gaining 1.40% as the Nigeria SEC urges investors to explore opportunities in the capital market. Today’s rally was driven by positive sentiment in all of the five major sectors. As a result, the market breadth closed positively, recording 35 gainers as against 4 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 334.06 absolute points, representing a growth of 1.40% to close at 24,143.37 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N174.10 billion, representing an increase of 1.40% to close at N12.58 trillion.
NB &CHIPLC emerged as the top gainers while CILEASING emerged as the top loser.
The uptrend was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; NB (+10.00%), ARDOVA (+9.84%), GUARANTY (+9.29%), ZENITHBANK (+6.40%), OANDO (+6.34%), FLOURMILL (+6.33%), ETI (+4.44%), FBNH (+4.26%), WEMABANK (+3.33%), UBA (+3.28%), ACCESS (+0.77%) and DANGCEM (+0.56%).

The Naira at the official window on Thursday closed unchanged at 361.00/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N385.08, traded high at N390.00 and eventually closed at N384.50, representing a 0.23% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $18.58million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 4.25%, representing a 1.13% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 3.50%, representing a 1.00% depreciation against yesterday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD OTC market on Wednesday remain unchanged as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 700.35, as against yesterday’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization closed at N514.46 billion. Both the aggregate volume and value increased by 3,066.67% respectively, as investors traded a total of 190,000 shares, worth N2.47 million in 1 deal.
