Positive Sentiment on banking stocks drive equity market to 0.26% gain.

The equity market performance index (NSE-ASI) closed the last trading day of the week in the green gaining 0.26% . This was driven This was driven by gains in banking sector stocks. The market breadth closed positive, recording 24 gainers and 11 losers.

NSE Trading Floor

The All Share Index (ASI) gained 79.16 absolute points to represent an increase of 0.26%, and close at 30,636.36 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N29.52 billion representing a growth of 0.26%, to close at N11.42 trillion.

UACN emerged the top gainer while UNIONDAC emerged  as the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FCMB (+9.14%), ACCESS (+6.09%), HONYFLOUR (+4.17%), WEMABANK (+3.08%), DIAMONDBNK (+2.67%), STERLNBANK (+2.51%), ZENITHBANK (+2.00%), UCAP (+0.95%), GUARANTY (+0.75%), FBNH (+0.68%), ETI (+0.36%), and STANBIC (+0.22%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate  remained unchanged to closed at N306.75 against yesterday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.07, traded high at N365.50 and eventually closed at N362.71, representing a 0.09% appreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $231.46 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 11.86%, representing a 0.50% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 11.07% representing a 0.79%  appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
