Oil & Gas Sector Leads Local Market to Another Bullish Gain

Trading activities  on the Nigerian domestic market closed the week on a bullish note today (Friday),  as bargain hunters dominated for the fourth consecutive trading sessions. The NGX-ASI grew by 0.21%, as investors’ wealth increased by N42.92 billion. The positive performance can be attributed to investor’s buying interest in all the major market sectors, except the Insurance sector. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 30 gainers as against 11 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 82.38 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.21%, to close at 38,667.90 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value rose by N42.92 billion, representing a surge of 0.21% to close at N20.15 trillion.

UNIVINSURE emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00% while UPL emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.03%.

Today’s market performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; OANDO(+9.97%), TOTAL(+9.96%), GUINNESS(+9.14%), UNILEVER(+8.75%), UCAP(+7.89%), ARDOVA(+6.00%),  CADBURY (+4.65%), LIVESTOCK (+3.68%), UACN(+3.45%), VITAFOAM (+1.91%), AIICO(+0.95%), DANGSUGAR(+0.86%), ZENITHBANK(+0.81%), UBA(+0.65%), WAPCO(+0.46%), UACN(+1.50%), and GTCO(+0.34%).

The Brent crude increased by $1.56 to $73.79 on (22/07/2021) from $72.23 (21/07/2021), representing a 2.16% increment in price. Bonny Light also increased by $1.06 to $71.93 on (22/07/2021) from $70.87 (21/07/2021), representing 1.50% increment in price.
