Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods Sectors led Stock Market to Pull a Positive String, Gains 0.15%

Trading activities on Nigeria’s equity market closed today (Wednesday) on a positive note, to halt a two-days consecutive losing streak. The bullish performance was due to investors’ bargain hunting of underpriced blue-chip stocks like SEPLAT, MTNN, and 24 others. Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and capitalization) grew by 0.15%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed positively recording 27 gainers against 21 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 57.41 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.15% to close at 38,564.70 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained N29.92 billion, representing an increase of 0.15% to close at N20.10 trillion.

CORNERSTONE emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00, while ABBEYBDS emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.52%.

Today’s market upturn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; MORRISON(+9.68%),  AFRIPRUD(+5.79%), HONYFLOUR(+3.70%), UBA(+2.111%), UNILEVER(+1.92%), INTBREW(+1.85%), SEPLAT(+1.45%), UCAP(+1.31%), FCMB(+1.29%), MTNN(-1.23%), TRANSCORP+(1.12%), VITAFOAM(+0.84%), FBNH(0.69%), ARDOVA(+0.65%), ACCESS(+0.59) UACN(+0.53%), DANGSUGAR(+0.28%) and ZENITHBAK(+0.21%).
