NSE begins Q3 on a high note, gains 0.47%
Transactions on the Nigerian equity market today (Wednesday) began Q3 on a positive note, with a gain of 0.47%, reversing previous day’s negative sentiment. The increase was buoyed by bargain hunting on bellwether stocks like BUACEMENT, WAPCO, ACCESS and 9 other. However, the market breadth closed on a negatively, recording 22 losers as against 12 gainers.
NSE Trading Floor
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 115.89 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.47% to close at 24,595.05 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N60.42 million, representing an increase of 0.47% to close at N12.83 trillion.
CADBURY emerged as the top gainer while NEIMETH emerged as the top losers.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CADBURY (+9.63%), JAPAULOIL (9.52%), BUACEMENT (8.53%), WAPCO (+5.00%), OANDO (+3.48%), PZ (+2.50%), and ACCESS (+0.76%).

The Naira at the official window on Wednesday closed unchanged at 361.00/$1, against the previous day’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N387.08, traded high at N389.99, and eventually closed at N387.50, unchanged against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $14.37 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 12.90%, representing a 3.10% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 11.80%, representing a 3.20% depreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market today (Wednesday) closed negatively, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 709.24, representing a 0.88% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N4.61 billion, to closed at N525.59 billion, representing a 0.88% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. However, the aggregate volume and aggregated value increased by 102.46% and 99.19% respectively, as investors traded a total of 23,182 shares, worth N2.71 million in 6 deal.
