NSE ASI index expands by 0.47%, extends positive momentum to two consecutive days

The Equity Market post 0.47% gain, extending positive sentiment to two consecutive trading days. The upturn was driven by gains in DangCem and 18 other Stocks. Market breadth closed positive, recording 19 gainers and 18 losers.

 

NSE Trading Floor

 

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was up by 144.43 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.47%, closing at 31,151.68 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N52.73 billion representing a growth of 0.47%, closing at N11.37 trillion.

VERITASKAP emerged the top gainer while CCNN emerged the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DIAMONDBANK (+8.97%), PZ (+5.83%), WEMABANK (+5.77%), OANDO (+5.32%), FLOURMILL (+4.22%), TRANSCORP (+3.57%), DANGCEM (+2.70%), DANGFLOUR (+1.61%) and FBNH (+1.32%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate  remain unchanged to closed at N306.85 against Tuesday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N364.04, traded high at N365.65 and eventually closed at N364.65, representing a 0.01% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing price. A total of $208.15 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 13.08%, representing a 3.58% appreciation against Tuesday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed  at 12.00% representing a 3.33% appreciation against Tuesday’s closing position.
