NSE ASI dips by 0.83%, halts 3 days gaining streak
The Nigerian Equity Market on Tuesday recorded a decline of 0.83% to halt three days consecutive gaining streak. The decline was driven by profit taking, mostly on bellwether stocks. Consequently, the market breadth closed negative, recording 15 gainers against 16 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 247.80 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.83% to close at 29,462.76 points, Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size decreased by N127.64 billion, representing a growth of 0.83% to close at N15.18 trillion.
LAWUNION emerged as the top gainer while ARBICO emerged as top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; ETERNA (-9.72%), ACCESS (-6.51%), GUARANTY (-5.29%), FCMB (-4.46%), UBA (-3.95%), ZENITHBANK (-1.76%), BUACEMENT (-1.49%), UACN (-1.40%), and DANGCEM (-1.14%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
The Naira at the official window on Tuesday closed unchanged at 306.95/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N361.83, traded high at N365.10 and eventually closed at N362.20, representing a 0.05% appreciation as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $154.85 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 3.10%, representing 0.40% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 2.40%, representing 0.18% depreciation against yesterday’s position.

The NASD OTC market on Tuesday closed on negative as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) dipped by 0.14% to close at 702.69. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N680 million, closing at N504.84 billion. Consequently, the aggregate volume and value decreased by 94.53% while the aggregated value increased by 131.49%, as investors traded a total of 22,110 volume of shares valued at N3.56 million in 6 deals.
