Nigerian equity market sustains positive momentum, gains 0.45%
The Nigerian equity market today (Friday) ended the trading week on a positive note, gaining 0.45% to sustain the previous winning streak to six consecutive trading days, following value appreciation on some bellwether stocks like ACCESS, WAPCO, ZENITHBANK, DANGSUGAR and 19 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a positive note, recording 23 gainers as against 5 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 111.55 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.45% to close at 25,041.89 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N58.19 billion, representing an increase of 0.45% to close at N13.06 trillion
VALUEFUND emerged as the top gainers while UACN emerged as the top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; UBN (+8.00%), GUINNESS (+4.44%), DANGSUGAR (+3.48%), GUARANTY (+2.53%), ACCESS (+2.36%), UBA (+1.55%), ZENITHBANK (+1.20%), FLOURMILL (+0.52%) and WAPCO (+0.43%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N385.55, traded high at N393.05, and eventually closed at N386.00, representing a 0.13% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $106.66 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 7.17%, representing a 1.48% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 6.33%, representing a 1.67% depreciation against the previous day’s position.
