Nigeria stocks sheds 0.38%

The Nigerian stock market on Thursday sheds 0.38%, as gains in Dangcem, Dangsugar and 14 others were unable to uphold positive trend. The decline was impacted by losses recorded from MTNN, Guaranty and 15 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 16 gainers as against 17 losers.

 

NSE Trading Floor

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 95.91 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.38% to close at 25,312.05 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size lost N50.04 million, representing a decrease of 0.38% to close at N13.20 trillion.

UAC-PROP emerged as the top gainer while CUTIX emerged as the top loser.

The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; ACCESS (-5.11%), OANDO (-3.57%), UBA (-2.99%), GUARANTY (-2.00%), ZENITHBANK (-1.76%),  and MTNN (-1.69%)

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the official window on Thursday closed unchanged at 361.00/$1, against yesterday’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N387.50, traded high at N389.99 and eventually closed at N386.70, representing 0.10% depreciation as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $24.64 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 2.50%, representing a 0.20% depreciation as against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 1.90%, representing a 0.10% depreciation as against yesterday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET

The NASD OTC market on Thursday closed positively to reverse yesterday’s negative sentiment as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew by 1.35% closed at 695.10,  as against yesterday’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization gained N6.83 billion closed at N510.60 billion. However, the aggregate volume and value declined by 29.30% and 85.87% respectively, as investors traded a total of 89,847 shares, worth N4.68 million in 10 deal.
