Nigeria bourse inch lower, post 0.08% loss

Transactions on the Nigerian bourse closed negative by extending the downtrend to four consecutive trading sessions, amid sell pressure on Banking and Consumer goods sector. Consequently, the market breadth closed negative, recording 12 gainers against 13 losers.

NSE Trading Floor

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 23.38 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.08% to close at 27,547.56 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N12.18 billion, representing a dip of 0.08% to close at N14.35 trillion.

WAPIC & UAC-PROP emerged as the top gainers while LAWUNION emerged as top loser.

The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; JAPAULOIL (-4.76%), FBNH (-2.52%), UBA (-1.95%), FCMB (-1.10%), UBN (-0.71%), GUARANTY (-0.52%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.51%)

The Naira at the official window on Tuesday closed unchanged at 306.95/$1, against yesterday’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N364.56, traded high at N365.75 and eventually closed at N364.95, unchanged against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $50.84 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 4.17%, representing a 0.67% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 3.42%, representing 0.50% appreciation against yesterday’s position.

However, the aggregate volume and value increased by 345.27% and 626.83%, as investors traded a total of 90,625 volume of shares, valued at N18.76 million in 8 deals.
