Transactions on the Nigerian equity market today (Monday) began the week on a positive note with a gain of 0.12%, sustaining Friday’s positive sentiment. The uptrend was buoyed by modest recovery on bellwether stocks like DANGSUGAR, NESTLE and 16 other. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a negatively, recording 29 losers as against 18 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 28.86 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.12% to close at 24,858.82 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N15.58 million, representing an increase of 0.12% to close at N12.97 trillion.
OKOMUOIL, CUTIX & REGALINS emerged as the top gainers while UNILEVER emerged as the top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; OKOMUOIL (+10.00%), FIDSON (+7.38%), NESTLE (+4.73%), FBNH (+1.92%) and DANGSUGAR (+0.84%).

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 15.67%, representing a 0.43% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 14.92%, representing a 0.28% depreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market on Monday closed positively, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 715.51, representing a 1.78% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization gained N9.18 billion, to close at N525.59 billion, representing an increase of 1.78% against the previous day’s closing position. Consequently, the aggregate volume and aggregated value increased by 57.73% and 482.56% respectively, as investors traded a total of 65,222 shares, worth N6.52 million in 11 deal.
