MTNN, TOTAL drags local bourse marginally lower, post 0.05%
Amid the absent of brokers on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) trading floor due to the measure taken by the NSE management to contain the spread of Covid-19, the Nigerian equity market today (Wednesday), closing marginally lower with a dip of 0.05%, following profit taking on MTNN and TOTAL and 5 other stocks as gains in Banking, Consumer and Industrial goods sectors failed to sustain yesterday’s gain. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 20 gainers as against 7 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 11.68 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.05% to close at 21,729.48 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N6.09 billion, representing an dip of 0.05% to close at N11.32 trillion.
CUTIX emerged as the top gainer while TOTAL emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by loses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; TOTAL (-10.00%), AFRIPRUD (-9.87%), FCMB (-3.85%) and MTNN (-2.91%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N381.29, traded high at N387.75 and eventually closed at N380.25, representing 0.07% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $56.20 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 3.50%, representing a 1.75% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 3.00%, representing 1.83% depreciation against yesterday’s position.

The NASD OTC market on Wednesday closed higher as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 692.71, representing a 0.25% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. Consequently, the aggregate volume and value increased by 152.31% and 2.26%, as investors traded a total of 127,417 volume of shares, valued at N15.14 million in 3 deals.
