The Nigeria equity market today (Monday) closed in the southwards position, shedding 0.44%, to sustain a seesaw movement of alternating gains and losses of four consecutive trading days, following sell pressure on some blue-chip stocks like MTNN, ZENITHBANK, ACCESS and 14 other. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a negative note, recording 17 losers as against 14 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 105.76 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.44% to close at 24,200.60 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N55.17 billion, representing a decrease of 0.44% to close at N12.62 trillion.
NPFMCRFBK emerged as the top gainer while MOBIL emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; MOBIL (-9.97%) WAPIC (-5.71%), ZENITHBANK (-2.99%), GUARANTY (-2.00%), ETI (-1.04%), MTNN (-0.95%), UBA (-0.80%) and ACCESS (-0.79%).

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 11.17%, representing a 2.93% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 10.33%, representing a 3.47% depreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market today (Monday) closed on a positive note, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 710.89, representing a 0.44% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N2.29 billion closed at N522.19 billion, representing a 0.44% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. However, the aggregate volume and value decreased by 98.69% and 86.86% aggregated respectively, as investors traded a total of 134,723 shares, worth N5.56 million in 13 deal.
