Modest recovery pushes Local bourse to halt six days downtrend
Trading activities on the Nigerian equity market today (Friday) closed on positively with a gain of 0.83%, halting the losing streak of six consecutive trading day. The uptrend was buoyed by modest recovery on bellwether stocks like ETI, NB, ZENITHBANK and 11 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a positive note, recording 14 gainers as against 13 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 203.78 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.83% to close at 24,829.02 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N106.31 million, representing an increase of 0.83% to close at N12.95 trillion.
AIRTELAFRI emerged as the top gainers while FIDSON emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; ETI (+9.38%), JAPAULOIL (+4.17%), NESTLE (+1.78%), NB (+0.86%) and ZENITHBANK (+0.31%).

The Naira at the official window on Friday closed unchanged at 361.00/$1, against the previous day’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N386.36, traded high at N389.75, and eventually closed at N386.33, representing a 0.03% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $14.68 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 16.10%, representing a 0.82% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 15.20%, representing a 0.83% depreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market on Friday closed negatively, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 709.11, representing a 0.86% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N4.48 billion, to close at N516.41 billion, representing a dip of 0.86% against the previous day’s closing position. Consequently, the aggregate volume increased by 147.01% while the aggregated value decreased by 58.63% respectively, as investors traded a total of 41,350 shares, worth N1.12 million in 5 deal.
