Market spills N130 billion after 3-successive days gain
Market indicators in the Nigeria equity market today declined by 0.97%, halting three consecutive days of growth. The decline was triggered by price depreciation of highly capitalized stocks. Consequently, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 13 gainers as against 18 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 267.15 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.97% to close at 27,319.64 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N129.96 billion, representing a decline of 0.97% to close at N13.29 trillion.
UACN emerged the top gainer while GUINNESS emerged as top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FO (-9.73%), ETERNA (-5.36%), NESTLE (-3.85%), FBNH (-3.19%), GUARANTY (-2.79%), NB (-1.84%), UBA (-1.56%), ACCESS (-1.49%), DANGCEM (-1.44%), OANDO (-1.28%), MTNN (-1.07%), HONYFLOUR (-1.00%) and DANGFLOUR (-0.25%).

The Naira exchange rate remain unchanged to close at N306.95/$1 as against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.45, traded high at N364.00 and eventually closed at N362.40 representing a 0.14% appreciation against yesterday’s position. A total of $244.40 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 9.50%, representing a 0.57% appreciation against yesterday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 8.64%, representing a 0.64% appreciation against yesterday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market sustained unchanged sentiment as against yesterday’s closing position, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 714.15 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization closed at N513.08 billion. Aggregate volume and value grew by 31.06% and 741.17% respectively as investors traded a total of 9,240 units of shares valued at N2.42 million in 4 deals.
