Market performance index shed 0.48% ahead of MTN Nigeria Listing
The Nigerian equity market extend its losing streak to eight consecutive trading days, shedding 0.48% ahead of the official listing of telecoms giant, MTN Nigeria Plc tomorrow. Today’s decline in NSE-ASI was driven by dip in all market sectors. Market breadth also closed negative, recording 11 gainers and 17 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) shed 136.68 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.48% to close at 28,286.08 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization declined by N51.35 billion; representing a dip of 0.48% to close at N10.63 trillion.
CHAMS emerged the top gainer while WAPIC emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FO (-9.87%), CCNN (-9.15%), DANGFLOUR (-4.41%), WEMABANK (-2.94%), ACCESS (-0.74%), FIDELITY (-0.55%), and DANGCEM (-0.28%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window remain unchanged to close at N306.95/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.25, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.54 to remain unchanged as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $399.78 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 10.57%, representing a 2.07% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 9.86%, representing a 1.86% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
After today’s trading activities, the NASD market extended positive sentiment as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew marginally by 0.01% to close at 765.93 points against yesterday’s index. Market Capitalization also gained by N30 million to closed at N550.27 billion. Conversely, market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 99.36% and 94.18% respectively. Investors traded a total of 10,100 units of shares valued at N1.72 million in 6 deals.
