Market extends gaining streak to 10 successive sessions, returns YTD performance to positive region
The Nigerian stock market today (Friday) closed transactions for the week on a positive note, as it gained 0.57% to extend recent gaining streak to 10 successive sessions. Today’s gain which in nominal term translates to an increase of N80.50 billion in Market Capitalization value also returned the Year-to-Date (YTD) performance metric of the local bourse to a positive region, the first time since February 26, 2020. Similarly, the market breadth (today) also closed positive, recording 19 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 154.01 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.57% to close at 26,958.77 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N80.50 billion, representing an increase of 0.57% to close at N14.11 trillion.
IKEJAHOTEL emerged top of the gainers’ chart, while CORNERST tops the losers’ chart.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; IKEJAHOTEL (+9.78%), UAC-PROP (+5.75%), TRANSCORP (+5.17%), DANGSUGAR (+4.03%), GUARANTY (+3.39%), WEMABANK (+1.85%), OANDO (+1.78%), ZENITH (+1.12%), WAPCO (+1.00%), MTNN (+0.78%), and DANGCEM (0.77%).

The NASD OTC market today (Friday) closed positively, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) increased by 0.09% to close at 734.39 points, from a prior closing position of 733.74 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization value gained N480 million to close at N539.46 billion, representing an increase of 0.09% compared to the previous closing value.
However, while Traded volume declined by -40.11% (compared to prior closing position) to settle at 28,420, the Value of total trades increased by 34.51% to N7.70 million in 10 deals.
