Local Market Kicks Off the Week with a Marginally Gain of 0.01%

Transaction on the Custom Street closed for today (Monday) on a positive note, as NGX-ASI and Market Capitalization increased marginally by 0.01%, to extend previous weeks gain by N2.84 billion. The marginal growth was due to investors bargain hunting in all the major market sectors excluding the Banking sector, that suffered a decline of 0.37%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed positively, recording 22 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 5.47 absolute points, representing a gain of 0.01%, to close at 37,952.65 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value rose by N2.84 billion, representing an increase of 0.01% to close at N19.77 trillion.

ETERNA emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00 while FTNCOCOA emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -7.32%.

Today’s market performance upturn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; UPL (+9.93%), CUTIX (+9.92%), REGALINS (+8.89%), WEMABANK (+8.75%), HONYFLOUR (+6.78%), LIVESTOCK (+4.79%), UCAP (+3.38%), PRESCO (+2.94%), VITAFOAM (+2.33%), MANSARD(+2.30%), TRANSCORP (+2.17%), AFRIPUD (+0.80%), and GTCO(+0.17%).
