Local Bourse Sustains Seesaw Movement as NGX-ASI Declined by 0.47%

The Nigerian equity market wrapped up trading activities for the week today (Friday) on a negative note, to reverse the previous day’s gain as NGX-ASI declined by 0.47%. The downturn was due to investors sell-off sentiment in all the major market sectors excluding the Insurance sector that grew by 0.28%. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 21 gainers as against 15 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 187.21 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.47%, to close at 39,483.08 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost 97.54 billion, representing a drop of 0.47% to close at N20.57 trillion.

LASACO emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00%, while FTNCOCOA emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -6.98%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; UPL (-6.20%), CADBURY (-5.03%), LINKASSURE (-4.76%), LEARNAFRCA (-4.44%), INTBREW (-4.00%), SOVRENINS (-3.85%), JAIZBANK (-3.33%), WAPCO (-1.30%), OANDO (-1.21%), ACCESS (-1.10%), CAVERTON (-1.10%), TRANSCORP (-1.02%), LIVESTOCK (-1.00%), and  UBA (-0.66%)
