Local bourse sustains downtrend as bearish sentiments persist
Transactions on the Nigerian equity market today (Monday) closed on a negative note, receding by 0.29%, as the bears further exerted their grip on the market for the third consecutive trading day. The downtrend was buoyed by unrelenting sell pressure witnessed on bellwether stocks like ETI, FBNH, UBA and 8 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a negative note, recording 26 losers as against 11 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 72.86 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.29% to close at 24,753.89 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N38.02 million, representing a decrease of 0.29% to close at N12.91 trillion.
JAPAULOIL emerged as the top gainers while NEIMETH emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; HONYFLOUR (-8.33%), FLOURMILL (-3.43%), GUINNESS (-2.94%), NB (-2.63%), BUACEMENT (-2.27%), ETI (-2.00%), FBNH (-0.94%) and UBA (-0.78%).
