Local Bourse Rallies by N103 Billion, as Market Cap. Hits N20 Trillion

The Nigerian equity market closed transactions for today (Tuesday) in a positive direction, as investors’ wealth grew by approximately N100 billion. The positive performance was supported by investors’ buying sentiment majorly in the Banking and Oil & gas sectors, as Market Capitalization hits N20 trillion. Furthermore, the market breadth closed positively, recording 28 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 198.04 absolute points, representing a gain of 0.52% to close at 38,418.04 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained N103.22 billion, representing an increase of 0.52% to close at N20.03 trillion.

MAYBAKER emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.65 while ETERNA emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.73%.

Today’s market upturn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; TOTAL(+9.24%), CHIPLC(+9.23%) SEPLAT(+7.14%), BERGER(+7.07%), UBA(+5.37%), ACCESS(+5.14%), FIDSON(+5.08%), ETI(+4.00%), STERLNBNK(+3.23%), ZENITHBANK(+2.90%), WAPCO(+1.43%), FBNH(+1.35%), VITAFOAM(+1.25), FLOURMILLS(+1.19) and FIDELITYBANK+0.43%).

SDFCWAMCO and SDNDEP gained +0.64% and +0.17%. While SDNGXGROUP and SDCSCPLC lost -0.06% and -0.05% respectively and SDUBNPROP remained unchanged.

MONEY MARKET 06072021

The overnight (O/N) rate closed at 10.25%, depreciating by 0.50% against Monday’s position. while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 9.75%, depreciating by 0.50% against Monday’s position.

 

FOREIGN EXCHANGE 06072021

The I&E FX window opened at N411.50, traded high at N420.86, traded low at N387.67, and eventually closed at N411.45, representing 0.08% depreciation against Monday’s closing position. However, at the BDC, the naira remains unchanged at N500.00.

FOREIGN RESERVE 06072021

Nigeria’s foreign reserve weakened by $89.14 million to $33.14 billion on (05/07/2021) from $33.23 billion on (02/07/2021), representing a 0.27% decline.

 

CRUDE OIL 06072021 1

The Brent crude declined by $2.63 to $74.53 on (06/07/2021) from $77.16 (05/07/2021), representing a 3.41% increase in price. While Bonny Light remained unchanged at $74.16.
