Local Bourse Opens New Week South-Ward, As NGX-ASI Dips By 0.71%

Trading activities on the custom street closed for today (Monday) on a negative note to halt four consecutive days bullish sentiment, as NGX-ASI declined by 0.71%. The downturn was due to market watchers’ sell-off sentiment in all major sectors, except the banking and industrial goods sectors  Hence, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 21 losers as against 19 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped by 293.48 absolute points, representing an decrease of 0.71%, to close at 41,144.67 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value declined by N153.15 billion, representing a fall of 0.71% to close at N21.47 trillion

MAYBAKER emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of 8.02%, while NGXGROUP emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +9.86%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; MAYBAKER (-8.02%) , ROYALEX(-7.81%), NPFMCRFBK(-7.57%), FBNH (-7.48%), MBENEFIT (-6.67%), AIICO (-5.26%),NESTLE (-5.07%), WEMABANK (-5.06%), COURTVILLE (-4.88%), UNIVINSURE(-4.55%), JAPAULGOLD (-4.26%), WAPIC (-4.00%), LIVESTOCK (-3.36%), MTNN (-2.86%),UCAP (-2.03%),CHAMPION (-1.59%), OANDO (-1.54%)  AND DANGSUGAR (-0.28%).
