Local bourse ended the trading week on a positive note, gains 0.02%


Transactions on the Nigerian equity market today (Friday) ended the trading week on a positive note as the All-Share-Index appreciated marginally by 0.02% to reverse the previous negative sentiment. The uptrend was supported by value appreciation on some bellwether stocks like ACCESS, GUARANTY and 10 others. However, the market breadth closed on a negative note, recording 13 losers as against 12 gainers.

NSE Trading Floor

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 5.12 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.02% to close at 25,309.37 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N2.67 billion, representing an increase of 0.02% to close at N13.20 trillion.

FTNCOCOA emerged as the top gainer while GUINNESS emerged as the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; WAPIC (+6.06), ACCESS (+2.40), and GUARANTY (+0.79)

The Naira at the official window today (Friday) closed at 379.00/$1, unchanged against the previous day’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N386.93, traded high at N393.05, and eventually closed at N385.67, representing a 0.02% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $43.16 million was transacted through the I&E window today.



Overnight(O/N) rate today (Friday) closed at 14.90%, representing a 12.90% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 13.90%, representing a 12.40% appreciation against the previous day’s position.

 The NASD OTC market today (Friday) closed on a negative note as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 711.15, representing a 0.11% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N600 million closed at N522.99 billion, representing a 0.11% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. However, the aggregate volume decreased by 34.20% while the aggregated value increased by 58.90%, as investors traded a total of 13,817 shares, worth N646,719 in 4 deal.
