Investors’ wealth decline as Equity Market recedes further by 0.09%
The Nigerian Equity Market today shed 0.09% to further extended downtrend to four consecutive trading sessions. The decline was driven by price depreciation in Cornerstone Insurance, and 18 other stocks. Consequently, market breadth closed negative, recording 8 gainers as against 19 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 24.88 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.09% to close at 26,913.70 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size lost N12.00 billion, representing a dip of 0.09% to close at N12.99 trillion.
CHAMS emerged as the top gainer, while CORNERST emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CORNEST (-10.00%), MANSARD (-8.33%), WEMABANK (-2.82%), ACCESS (-2.69%), FBNH (-2.21%), HONEYFLOUR (-0.93%), UBA (-0.72%), GUARANTY (-0.50%) and OANDO (-0.28%).

The Naira at the official rate remains unchanged to close at N306.95/$1 as against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.56, traded high at N363.75 and eventually closed at N363.07, representing 0.13% depreciation against yesterday’s position. A total of $456.46million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 3.57%, representing a 0.14% depreciation against yesterday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 2.79%, representing a 0.21% depreciation as against yesterday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD OTC market closed on a bearish note, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.53% to close at 692.24 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N2.64 billion to close at N497.33 billion as against yesterday’s position. However, the aggregate volume declined by 30.86% the value grew by 452.70% respectively, as investors traded a total of 80,507 units of shares valued at N15.67 million in 12 deals.
