Investors Lose N4.55 Billion as Equity Market Dips Marginally By 0.02%

Market activities on the Nigerian Bourse closed today (Thursday) in a downward trajectory, halting the two sessions gaining streaks after posting a marginal loss for the day. This was due to investors’  mixed sentiments in medium and large-scale stocks.  Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI) declined by 0.02%. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 20 gainers as against 15 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 8.72 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.02% to close at 37,898.59 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N4.55 billion, representing a reduction of 0.02% to close at N19.76 trillion.

TRIPPLEG emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00 while ROYALEX emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.84%.

Today’s market downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; ROYALEX(-9.84%), REGALINS(-6.52%) CHIPLC(-3.33%), JAPAULGOLD(-2.00%), WAPIC(-0.01%), GT(-1.34%), DANGSUGAR(-0.15%), UBA(-0.05%), CADBURY(-0.05%), LIVESTOCK(-0.01%), FLOURMILLS(-0.17%), and UCAP(-0.16%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE 01072021

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N411.21, traded high at N420.95, traded low at N400.00, and eventually closed at N410.70, representing 0.19% appreciation against Wednesday’s closing position. However, at the BDC, the naira remain unchanged at N500.00.

FOREIGN RESERVE 01072021

Nigeria’s foreign reserve weakened by $47.02 million to $33.32 billion on (30/06/2021) from $33.37 billion on (29/06/2021), representing a 0.14% decline.

Crude oil 20062021

The Brent crude increased by $0.34 to $74.62 on (30/06/2021) from $74.28 (29/06/2021), representing a 0.34% increase in price. While Bonny Light also depreciated by $0.45 to $74.16 on (30/06/2021) from $74.61 on (29/06/2021)
