Investors lose N27.90 billion as equity market shed 0.25%

The Equity market today shed 0.25% causing investors to lose 27.90 billion. This was driven by huge losses in the insurance sector. Market breadth closed positive, recording 24 gainers and 20 losers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was down by 76.37 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.25%, closing at 30,642.35 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by N27.90 billion representing a dip of 0.25%, closing at N11.19 trillion.

CAP emerged the top gainer while CONOIL emerged the top loser.

The downturn was impacted by loses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; MOBIL (-5.50%), DANGSUGAR (-5.38%), DIAMOND (-4.21%), UBA (-3.85%), FBNH (-3.33%), NB (-3.18%), HONYFLOUR (-0.92%), ACCESS (-0.67%),  and ZENITHBANK (-0.43%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate  remain unchanged to closed at N306.90 against Friday’s closing price

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N364.62, traded high at N366.30 and eventually closed at N364.77, representing a 0.12% appreciation against Tuesday’s closing price. A total of $315.68 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 62.50%, representing a 8.42% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed  at 56.67% representing a 8.33% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing position.
