Investors Gain N37 Billion, as Bulls Returned to Lagos Customs Street

Trading activities on Customs Street today (Tuesday) closed on a positive note, extends the bullish run to two consecutive trading sessions, as the NGX-ASI and the market capitalization grew by 0.18%. The positive performance was spurred by investors’ sustained buy interests in bellwether stocks like DANGCEM, ZENITH, ACCESS, UBA, and 17 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 21 gainers against 17 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 70.22 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.18% to close at 39,382.96 points. While the overall Market Capitalization value gained N36.57 billion, representing an increase of 0.18% to close at N20.53 trillion.

MEYER emerged as top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of 9.62%, while REGALINS emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -8.82%.

Today’s market gain was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; PRESCO(+9.58%) UAC-PROF(+9.21%), AFRIPRUD(+9.17%), UNITYBANK(9.09%), ROYALEX(+7.69%), CHIPLC(+7.14%), JAPAULOIL(5.36%), MBENEFIT(+5.00%), MANSARD(+4.65%), NAHCO(2.38%), DANGCEM(+1.61%), ZENITHBANK(+1.09%), FIDELITYBANK(+0.88%), AIICO(+0.78%), UBA(+0.69%), ACCESS(+0.60%), and LIVESTOCK(+0.54%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N410.33 traded high at N422.00, and low at N401.10, and eventually closed at N411.25,  representing a 0.14% depreciation against Monday’s closing position. Also, a total of $32.61 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

The overnight (O/N) rate closed at 15.50%, representing a 0.50% appreciation as against Friday’s position. while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 15.00%, representing a 0.50% appreciation as against Monday’s position.
