Investors gain N199 billion as positive sentiment returned on blue-chip stock

The Nigeria Bourse closed trading activities for today (Wednesday) on a positive trajectory, to reverse previous trading loss. The NSE-ASI Index and Market Capitalization grew by 0.98% following the price appreciation on MTNN, DANGCEM, NB and 16 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 20 gainers against 16 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 380.81 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.98% to close at 39,085.78 points. While the overall Market Capitalization value gained N199.24 billion, representing a rise of 0.98% to close at N20.45 trillion.

MRS emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -9.70%, while STANBIC emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +9.99%.

Today’s market gain was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; GUINNESS(+8.76%), OANDO(+8.68%), UNILEVER(+3.77%), STERLINGBANK(+3.36%), INTBREW(+2.78%), MTNN(+2.42%), DANGCEM(+2.27%), NASCON(+2.01%), CADBURY(+1.25%), NB(+1.04%), FBNH(+0.69%), and UACN(+0.63%)

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N408.98 traded high at N412.00 and eventually closed at N408.75representing 0.26% appreciation against Tuesday’s position. Also, a total of $33.11 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 14.00%, representing a 2.00% depreciation against Monday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 13.50%,  representing a 2.00% depreciation as against Monday’s position.
