Investors Appetite For Financial and Consumer Goods Sectors Extend Positive Sentiment

The Nigerian domestic bourse closed trading activities today (Monday) on a bullish note, to extend the positive sentiment to three consecutive trading sessions, as the NGX-ASI and the Market Capitalization grew by 0.05%.The positive performance was impacted by investors’ sustained buy interests in financial and consumer goods sector. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 23 gainers as against 14 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 21.88 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.05%, to close at 40,243.05 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value grew by N14.45 billion, representing a gain of 0.07% to close at N20.97 trillion. The discrepancy in the ASI and Market Capitalization was as a result of additional listing of Jaizbank Plc ordinary shares of 5,076,923,077 at 50 kobo each.

MANSARD emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) with a price appreciation of +9.87%, while MORISON emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) for today, with a price depreciation of -10.00%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; MANSARD (+9.87%), PHARMDEKO (+9.79%), UPL (+9.76%), CHIPLC (+8.77%), ETERNA  (+8.57%), COURTVILLE (+8.57%), JAPAULGOLD (+6.82%), WAPIC (+4.17%), UCAP (+3.91%), REGALINS (+2.27%), FCMB (+2.08%), FBNH (+1.86%), UBA (+0.66%), DANGSUGAR (+0.57%), NEM (+0.52%), ZENITHBANK (+0.21%),  and  GTCO (+0.18%).
