Investors’ Appetite for Banking and Consumer Goods Stocks Extend Positive Sentiment

Transactions on the Nigerian bourse closed today (Thursday) on a green note, taking the market to three consecutive gaining sessions. The bullish sentiments persist as bargain hunters continue to take positions in bellwethers stocks. Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and market capitalization) rose by 0.10%. Similarly, the market breadth closed positively recording 19 gainers against 15 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 39.15 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.10% to close at 39,210.10 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained N20.41 billion, representing an increase of 0.10% to close at N20.44trillion.

LINKASSURE emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.09%, while CWG emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.60%.

Today’s market upurn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; PZ(+7.14%), MAYBAKER(+5.00%), UNILEVER(+4.96%), ETI(+4.00%), VITAFOAM(+3.45%), HONYFLOUR(+2.38%), DANGSUGAR(+1.43%)), TRANSCORP(+1.12%), INTBREW(+0.93%), FIDELITYBANK(+0.88%), , ZENITHBANK(+0.65%), FCMB(+0.65%), ACCESS(+0.62%), STANBIC(+0.43%) and GUARANTY(0.35%).
