Industrial Goods and Oil & Gas Sectors Plunge ASI by 0.78%

Market activities on Nigerian equities closed the week (Friday) on a bearish trajectory, reversing the previous day’s trading gain. The negative performance was due to investors’ profit-taking on bellwethers stocks like MTNN, DANGCEM, and 8 others. Hence, the year-to-date (YTD) stood at -6.49%. As a result, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and capitalization) plunged by 0.78%. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 25 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 296.09 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.78% to close at 37,658.26 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N154.32 billion, representing a decline of 0.78% to close at N19.63 trillion.

HONYFLOUR emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.93 while NPFMCRFBK emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -8.47%.

Today’s market downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; UBN(-7.76%), ETERNA(-4.40%) DANGCEM(-3.91%), FCMB(-3.23%) CADBURY(-2.50%), UCAP(-1.46%), MTNN(-1.21%), and FLOURMILLS(-0.17%).

Nigeria’s foreign reserve dipped by $45.33 million to $33.54 billion on (24/06/2021) from $33.59 billion on (23/06/2021), representing a 0.13% decline.

Crude Oil 25062021The Brent crude increased by $0.31 to $74.81 on (24/06/2021) from $74.50 (23/06/2021), representing a 0.42% increase in price. While Bonny Light declined by $0.34 to $74.74 on (24/06/2021) from $75.08 on (23/06/2021)
