Industrial Goods and Insurance Sectors Send Local Bourse Southward

The Nigeria Local Bourse closed transactions for today (Monday) on a negative sentiment to halt the bullish sentiment of two consecutive trading sessions, as ASI receded by 0.25%. The downturn was buoyed by investors’ sell-sentiment on the Insurance and Industrial Goods sector. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 20 gainers as against 12 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped by 97.95 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.25%, to close at 38,864.33 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N51.04 billion, representing a decrease of 0.25% to close at N20.25 trillion.

UPL emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +9.80%,  while MANSARD emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -9.94%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; MANSARD (-9.94%), CHAMS (-4.35%), SOVRENINS (-4.00%), MBENEFIT (-3.33%), BUACEMENT (-2.94%), TRANSCORP (-1.08%), ETI (-0.94%), UBA (-0.67%), UCAP (-0.58%), GTCO (-0.54%), FIDELITYBNK (-0.41%), and  ZENITHBANK (-0.21%).
