Trading activities on the Nigeria equity market today (Monday) opened the new week in the negative territory, extending the previous losing streak to six consecutive trading days. Consequently, NGX-ASI and market capitalization tumbled by 0.10%, due to sustained sell-pressure in bellwether stocks like ACCESS, GUARANTY, UBA, and 14 others. However, the market breadth closed marginally positive, recording 18 gainers against 17 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 36.49 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.10% to close at 38,287.58 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value shed N19.47 billion, representing a decline of 0.10% to close at N19.96trillion.

ROYALEX emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of 9.68%, while ABCTRANSPORT emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.76%.

Today’s market downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; UAC-PROP(-8.43%), WAPIC(-3.70%), TRANSCORP(-3.41%), WEMABANK(-3.33%), HONYFLOUR(-2.56%), ETERNA(-2.50%), ETI(-1.89%), ACCESS(-1.83%), UBA(-1.38%) and GUARANTY(-0.85%).
