Gains in Banking Stocks lead NSE ASi to rebound by 0.68%

The Equity Market record 0.68% gain, which is the first gain of the month, to reverse Monday’s loss . The upturn was driven by a 2.62% gain in the banking sector performance index. Market breadth closed positive, recording 24 gainers and 14 losers.

 

NSE Trading Floor

 

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was up by 208.49 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.68%, closing at 31,007.25 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N76.12 billion representing a growth of 0.68%, closing at N11.32 trillion.

AXA MANSARD  emerged the top gainer while LINKAGE ASSURANCE emerged the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DIAMONDBANK (+9.86%), UBA (+6.67%), GUARANTY (+3.75%), FBNH (+2.70%), WEMABANK (1.96%), ZENITHBANK (1.69%), DANGFLOUR (+0.81%), ACCESS (+0.67%), FLOURMILL (+0.50%), and DANGSUGAR (+0.38%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate  remain unchanged to closed at N306.85 against Monday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.95, traded high at N365.50 and eventually closed at N364.63, representing a 0.17% depreciation against Monday’s closing price. A total of $24.01 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 9.50%, representing a 1.83% appreciation against Monday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed  at 8.67% representing a 2.00% appreciation against Monday’s closing position.
