Gains in 10 Stocks lift Market Capitalization by N5 billion

Trading activities on the Nigerian domestic market closed for the week on a positive note, to reverse the previous days’ bearish sentiment, as NGX-ASI grew marginally by 0.02%. The positive performance was due to investors buying interest in the recently depreciated bellwether stock prices, as market watchers continue to assess the published H1 performance of some of the companies and await the release of others. Consequently, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 10 gainers as against 12 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 9.24 absolute points, representing a marginal increase of 0.02%, to close at 38,810.75 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value also gained N4.81 billion, representing a growth of 0.02% to close at N20.22 trillion.

TRANSCOHOT emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.80%, while JULI emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.76%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; TRANSCOHOT (+9.80%), REGALINS (+6.67%), OANDO (+4.13%), ARDOVA (+3.33%), CUTIX (+2.73%), TRANSCORP (+2.15%), JAIZBANK (+1.64%), STERLNBANK (+1.31%), ETI (+0.93%), and  GUINNESS (+0.63%).
