Financial and Industrial Sectors Halt Market Downtrend, as Market Capitalization Advances by N35 Billion

The Nigerian equity market closed trading activities for today (Thursday) on a positive note, to halt the previous days’ bearish trend. The market upturn was due to investors’ buying interest in the Financial and Industrial sectors as NGX-ASI advanced by 0.17%. However, the market breadth closed negatively, recording  18 losers as against 16 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 68.01 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.17%, to close at 39,252.19 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained 35.44 billion, representing a rise of 0.17% to close at N20.45 trillion.

CHAMS emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +4.76%, while UNITYBANK emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -8.62%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; WEMABANK (+3.66%), MANSARD (+3.49%), JBERGER (+2.97%), ACCESS (+2.78%), NEM (+2.56%), LIVESTOCK  (+2.35%), UCAP (+2.23%), UBA (+1.32%), DANGCEM (+0.82%), FBNH (+0.67%), ZENITHBANK (+0.21%), and GTCO (+0.18%)

Nigeria’s foreign reserve appreciated by $82.26 million to $34.10 billion on (02/09/2021) from $34.02 billion on (01/09/2021).

Crude oil 31082021

The Brent crude and WTI crude depreciated by $0.60 and $0.71 to $71.63 and $68.50 on (31/08/2021) from $72.23 and $69.21 on (30/08/2021), representing a decline of 0.83% and 1.03% respectively.
