The Equity Market closed lower today, shedding 0.24% to begin the trading week. Market breadth closed negative, recording 17 gainers and 24 losers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was down by 76.76 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.24%, closing at 32,048.18 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization decreased by N28.02 billion, representing a dip of 0.24%, closing at N11.70 trillion.

CCNN emerged the top gainer while CADBURY emerged the top loser.

The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CCNN (-9.38%), UNILEVER (-5.95%), UBA (-5.06%), ACCESS (-4.19%), FBNH (-3.92%), OANDO (-2.88%), NB (-2.79%), DANGSUGAR (-0.77%) and WAPCO (-0.57%).

The Naira at the inter-bank rate closed at N306.65, representing a 0.02% depreciation against Friday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.50, traded high at N365.00 and eventually closed at N363.64, representing a 0.03% appreciation against Friday’s closing price. A total of $231.24 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 3.58%, representing a 1.25% depreciation against Friday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate  closed  at 3.08% representing a 1.00% depreciation against Friday’s closing position.
