Equity market sustains positive sentiment

The equity market performance index (NSE-ASI) gained 1.06%, extending yesterdays uptrend. Market breadth closed positive, recording 30 gainers against 5 losers.

NSE Trading Floor

The All Share Index (ASI) went up by 312.97 absolute points, representing a gain of 1.06%, closing at 29,830.70 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N116.71 billion representing a growth of 1.06%, closing at N11.12 trillion.

CORNERSTONE, VERTASKAP and WAPIC emerged the top gainer, with 10% gain while SEPLAT emerged the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DANGFLOUR (+9.65%), ACCESS (+6.60%), FBNH (+4.23%), OANDO (+3.61%), HONYFLOUR (+3.60%), DANGCEM (+3.21%), DIAMONDBNK(+1.51%), DANGSUGAR (+1.45%)  ZENITHBANK (+1.16%) and GUARANTY (+0.90%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the inter-bank rate remained unchanged at N306.90 against yesterday’s closing price

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N364.93, traded high at N366.65 and eventually closed at N364.94, representing a 0.05% appreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $177.24 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 22.50%, representing a 2.17% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 20.00% representing a 2.67% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
