Equity Market Sustains Positive Growth, as NGX-ASI Surges by 0.17%

The Nigerian Equity Market closed the trading activities for today (Thursday) on a positive note, to maintain the previous gaining momentum. The bullish performance was a result of investors’ interest in all major sectors except the banking sector. Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and market capitalization) surged by 0.17%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed positively recording 19 gainers against 15 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 65.72 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.17% to close at 38,548.24 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained N34.25 billion, representing an increase of 0.17% to close at N20.09 trillion.

UPL emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00%, while CWG emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.63%.

Today’s market upturn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; BERGER(+9.84%), AFRIPRUD(+6.90%), CHIPLC(+6.67%), UCAP(+5.08%), REGALINS(+3.77%), FCMB(+2.94%), FTNCOCOA(+2.78%), MTNN(+1.48%), PORTPAINT(+1.21%), FLOURMILLS(+1.06%), FIDELITYBANK(+0.90%), NB(0.85%), OANDO(0.65%), WAPCO(0.49%) and ZENITHBANK(+0.22%).
