Equity market sustains negative sentiment as NSE-ASI decline 1.17%
Transaction activities on the Nigeria equity market sustained the previous day’s negative sentiment, as the market performance indicators shed 1.17% on Friday. The decline was impacted by price depreciation on Buacement, Dangcem, and 16 others. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 22 gainers as against 18 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 295.75 absolute points, representing a decline of 1.17% to close at 25,016.30 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size lost N154.28 million, representing a decrease of 1.17% to close at N13.05 trillion.
BOCGAS emerged as the top gainer while CADBURY emerged as the top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; BUACEMENT (-5.44%), NB (-4.55%), WEMABANK (-3.33%), GUARANTY (-2.45%), DANGCEM (-2.04%), FBNH (-1.82%), INTBREW (-1.05%), and DANGSUGAR (-0.33%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N387.75, traded high at N391.25 and eventually closed at N386.50, representing 0.05% appreciation as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $85.00 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 16.70%, representing a 14.20% appreciation as against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 15.60%, representing a 13.70% appreciation as against yesterday’s position.

The NASD OTC market on Friday closed negatively to reverse yesterday’s positive sentiment as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) decline by 0.39% closed at 692.38, as against yesterday’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization lost N2.00 billion closed at N508.6 billion. However, the aggregate volume and value grew by 269.35% and 1,659.14% respectively, as investors traded a total of 331,850 shares, worth N82.27 million in 6 deal.
