The equity market today ended the last trading session of the week lower, shedding 0.22% and extending yesterday’s loss. This was driven by losses experienced in the Banking, Consumer Goods, Industrial and Insurance sectors. Market breadth closed negative, recording 9 gainers and 19 losers.

The All Share Index (ASI) shed 68.07 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.22%, to close at 31,142.72 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization lost N25.39billion representing a decline of 0.22%, to close at N11.61trillion.
ROYALEX emerged the top gainer while IKEJAHOTEL emerged as the top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; STERLNBANK (-7.60%), UCAP (-6.67%), FCMB (-5.61%), UBA(-2.61%), ACCESS(-2.52%), FIDELITY(-1.83%), ETI(-1.10%), DANGFLOUR(-0.97%), ZENITHBANK (-0.90%), FLOURMILL(-0.52%) and WAPCO (-0.39%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.10, traded high at N363.50 and eventually closed at N360.18, representing a 0.05% appreciation against yesterdays closing position. A total of $308.66 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 11.67%, representing a 0.08% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 11.17%, representing a 0.50% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
