Equity market records first gain of the year!
The equity market performance index (NSE-ASI) gained 0.62%, notching its first gain since the beginning of the New year(2019) after six consecutive. This was majorly driven by gains in Banking and Industrial goods stocks. Market breadth closed positive, recording 21 gainers against 15 losers.

The All Share Index (ASI) went up by 180.93 absolute points, representing a gain of 0.62%, closing at 29,517.73 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N67.47 billion representing a growth of 0.62%, closing at N11.01 trillion.
LAWUNION emerged the top gainer while GUINNESS emerged the top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; GUARANTY (+6.07%), TRANSCORP (+5.93%), DIAMONDBANK (+5.85%), ZENITHBANK (+2.86%), FLOURMILL (+1.86%), HONYFLOUR (+1.83%), DANGFLOUR (+1.79%), DANGSUGAR (+1.10%) and DANGCEM (+0.88%).

The Naira at the inter-bank rate remained unchanged at N306.90 against yesterday’s closing price
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N365.00, traded high at N366.50 and eventually closed at N365.12, representing a 0.06% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $142.64 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 24.67%, representing a 3.00% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 22.67% representing a 4.00% depreciation against Tuesday’s closing position.
